Bestowal dialogue
'The ploy to frighten the fishermen worked rather well. I think we should use it again on the huntsmen and see if they scare as easily as their kinsmen.
'Try once more to make these woods look haunted, so that the rumours will follow these Men back to Stangard and weaken their desire to come here for another generation. Good luck -- and try not to be spotted by the hunters.'
Background
Since your prankish tactics worked so well to persuade the fishermen to leave, you have been asked to try the same ploy on the huntsmen from Stangard.
Objective 1
- Whistle at Wynmar, the leader of the Rohirrim hunter camp
The hunters' camp is a little to the north of Haldirith.
You should try to frighten Wynmar, the leader of the hunters' camp.
- This is a good hiding spot
- Perform the whistle emote.
- You whistle at Wynmar. Hey there.
- This hunter does not seem to want to leave....
- Wynmar says, "What was that sound? Who goes there?"
- Wynmar says, "Whoever you are, you do not frighten us!"
Objective 2
Wait a few moments before trying again.
Objective 3
- Roar at the leader of the Rohirrim hunter-camp
The hunters' camp is a little to the north of Haldirith.
You should try to frighten Wynmar, the leader of the hunters' camp.
- This is a good hiding spot
- Perform the roar emote.
- You ROAR at Wynmar!
- The hunter is determined to stay put
- Wynmar says, "Whatever you are, ghost or Dwimordene, we are not leaving!"
- Wynmar says, "I do not frighten easily, phantom! You may as well go away."
Objective 4
The Rohirrim leader of the hunters' camp is in the northwestern woods of Thinglad.
Since your tactics are not working against this stubborn Rohirrim, you should try speaking with him instead of trying to frighten him away.
Elf and High Elf version
- Wynmar: 'A Dwimordene and not a ghost, eh? You want to scare us off, and I see the edge of your haunted wood nearby. Perhaps you see us as trespassers.
- 'We shall go, but only if you return our missing hunter to us. He has not been seen since daybreak, but would not have wandered far. Have you seen him? Are there others you could ask for news of his fate?'
Man, Dwarf, Beorning and Hobbit version
- Wynmar: 'A <race> and not a ghost, eh? You want to scare us off, and I see the edge of Dwimordene's haunted wood nearby. Perhaps you see us as trespassers.
- 'We shall go, but only if you return our missing hunter to us. He has not been seen since daybreak, but would not have wandered far. Have you seen him? Are there others you could ask for news of his fate?'
- It would seem that one of these men has gone missing, and his companions are concerned for his fate
Objective 5
Noriel is at the Elf-outpost of Haldirith.
You should bring news of this twist in the plan to Noriel.
- Noriel: 'You seem somewhat disconcerted, <name>. Did your plan not go well? Was there trouble?'
- Noriel listens gravely as you tell her of the stubborn hunter Wynmar, and his fearlessness in the face of concern for his missing companion.
- 'I see. let me think a moment, my friend. They must leave, but I would not have them abandon their lost fellow.'
- Noriel wishes for you to bid the huntsmen stay and wait while the missing hunter is sought
Objective 6
- Tell Wynmar and his men to stay put
Wynmar is at his camp in Thinglad.
You should tell Wynmar to stay put while you and Noriel search for his missing friend.
- Wynmar: 'You again? Why do you return, <race>?'
- Wynmar listens as you explain that he and his folk trespass in Thinglad, but the Elves wish to help them find their missing companion...on the condition that they do not wander from their camp.
